Join the Sophie’s Legacy Family Advisory Group

At Sophie’s Legacy, we believe that families are the experts when it comes to understanding what life is really like when a child is in hospital. Our Family Advisory Group gives parents, carers, grandparents, siblings and other family members the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and feedback to help shape the work we do and the support we provide to families across the UK.
We are looking for family members who have a connection to a child who has spent time in hospital and who are passionate about making a difference for other families.

What is the Family Advisory Group?

The Family Advisory Group is a virtual group that meets once every quarter on a Thursday evening via Microsoft Teams. The group provides a safe and supportive space for families to:

  • Share their experiences of hospital life
  • Discuss the challenges faced by children and families during hospital stays
  • Provide feedback on Sophie’s Legacy projects and campaigns
  • Help identify areas where support can be improved
  • Contribute ideas for new initiatives and services
  • Ensure the voices of families remain at the heart of everything we do

Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from:
  • Parents and carers
  • Grandparents
  • Siblings aged 18+
  • Other family members closely involved in a child's hospital journey
You do not need any previous experience of advisory groups or committees. We simply ask that you are willing to share your experiences and contribute positively to discussions.

What Is Involved?

  • Attend four virtual meetings each year
  • Share your thoughts, ideas and feedback
  • Help influence the future direction of Sophie’s Legacy
  • Represent the voice of families who have experienced having a child in hospital
Participation is voluntary, and we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every voice is valued.
